You can also interpret it as a symbol of forced love ;) héhéhé. I think the column is very happy having the carriage next to it. But the carriage doesn't fit there thus is not happy (the way it's attached). There is the world to discover but the carriage can't see it unless she will be set free. Very nice picture. Looking at this I had this connotative meaning in mind as R. Barthes would call it.
